Supermarket pre packaged £1 goods

Noticed most supermarkets are increasingly promoting pre packaged items at a one off price of £1.
So thought I would do a price comparison as thought it would cost more to buy individually. So bought the equivalent amount of tomatoes you would get in the ready wrapped tray and was astonished to find it came to 30p. These loose tomatoes were also priced at a higher cost per kg but still worked out at more than a third cheaper.
Same with bananas and all the others. Definitely saves to buy loose plus you don't have all the unnecessary packing to contend with.

I noticed the same last night at Tesco.
I could have bought 5 piddly little pre-packaged 'eat-me-now' bananas for £1. I bought 3 large single ones instead, they cost me 39p.

It has been well known for many years that loose fruit/veg usually works out cheaper than pre-packed.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Unfortunately some loose items are inferior quality compared to the expensive pre-packaged ones; courgettes and parsnips spring to mind.0
