Hi Everyone,
I posted on here a while ago about how much buffet food to do for my friend.
I wondered if you could tell me what you think to this buffet , She is getting married and only having an evening do with a buffet , she has told me approx. 65 people with 15 ish being children.
I am making her cake she doesn't really know what she wants and keeps saying 'I will trust you'
So today I have worked out the following,
A chocolate fudge cake with chocolate cigarellos round the outside and curls on the top.
48 cup cakes.
£45.00
Finger Buffet
Approx 12 items per person with a platter of Assorted sandwiches as well.
Filo Prawns
Breaded Prawns
Prawn Vol au vents/mini yorkshires
Sausage rolls
cheddar puffs (veg)
samosas (Veg)
pakora (veg)
onion bahjis (veg)
duck spring rolls
cocktail sausages
sausage and bacon rolls
mini roast beef Yorkshire puddings
chicken dippers
Mini assorted Belgian cakes
mini eclairs
A bowl of mini bags of sweets.
£250,
so £295 for cake and buffet.
On top of this there will be the serviettes and plates to buy.
Would be grateful for any thoughts

Sounds lovely but maybe a bit more salad or veg? Especially if there'll be vegetarian guests.
You could do crudites & dips, or things like cherry tomatoes & olives on sticks if you want it all to be finger foods.0 -
It sounds fine but the only thing I'd say is that if any of the guests are gluten-free or coeliac, they are unlikely to be able to eat a single thing. You might want to find out if you have any veggie guests too!
I find browsing on M&S Food to Go's buffet section good inspiration. It should come up if you type it in on Google. Obviously not as cheap in most instances as catering everything yourself but the food is nice and it has sushi platters, which you might want to eat but might not want to make yourself.0 -
I agree, you need more salady stuff.
Cherry toms, olives, sticks with dip, coleslaw, potato salad, bowl of nuts maybe. I'd do a huge bowl of green salad. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Thanks ,
I will take that on board, there will be salad on all the platters as garnish . I can easily add some more in. She doesn't want anything that needs cutlery to eat so no potato salads etc only finger foods. Have edited original post to show veggie options.
Do you think the price is reasonable ? I am trying to keep it as cheap as possible for her without it looking cheap , if that makes sense lol
I am thinking £3.85 for the buffet per person is good ?0 -
I would do potato salad/coleslaw/olives/cherry tomatoes, not green salad, no one ever eats the salad......the buffet sounds great, and an excellent price!!0

Sorry, just seen the no potato salad, i think cutlery is a must to be honest, its a bit primitive not to offer any. !! Then you can have the potato salad/coleslaw etc.0

Oooh, i love savoury rice as well!!0

and having big bowls of cheaper fillers - pasta salad, potato salad etc is good to stop the food running low...very filling!0

She really only wants a finger buffet , I did suggest a fork buffet with cold meats and salads but it is a definite no.
I have found some small individual wipes like you get in restaurants/on planes, I was thinking about putting some of those out for peoples fingers after they have eaten.0 -

I could put some bowls of cherry toms and olives out , have to say I agree about the green salad.
The Bride is convinced that her guests are 'all drinkers' and won't eat. I am thinking that they may want to pick at things when they have had a few !0
