It may not hurt until they ask you to send in your renewal notice and they see you were telling lies. They could technically invalidate the policy if they wanted to at that point and a cancellation of that nature would have to be declared on every insurance application you do for the rest of your life.

    1. they will want evidence of the quote.
    2. you are committing fraud and if found out will find it difficult to ever get insurance again.

    so no.

Why lie about qoutes find the cheapest then search the cashback sites listed on this site such as quidco, rpoints, mrs cashback and a couple of others and see if they list the company if not search the list they have and compare, if the price is only a matter of a few pounds difference the cashback could make it a lot cheaper if you follow the terms and conditions of the particular site.

I used Mrs cashback my insurance company was prudential which quoted me £500 same price as most quotes I got. Mrs cashback offered £50 cashback £100 if i took out the gold membership I took the offer and got paid out two months later. (I then found out that other sites offer £100 cashback for the same comany without any upgrades to GOLD memberships).

    Good luck

Try the article if you haven't already and use one of the comparison sites:

yarrow.gifCheap Car Insurance: a speedy, powerful cost cutting system

You may find that they are able to beat your lowest quote so far, good luck :)

I wouldn't say that my existing provider has given me a better quote as they might want proof by way of your renewal notice.
Shaving off a few £££ only really works between co's that you are getting quotes from or going to your current provider and asking them to beat a better quote. I do every year and it rarely fails.
