Sanding floorboards - filling gaps & kit

    This could arguably make the floor worse by making it all creaky - if the floor boards are old (have been in place for 20+ years) as is often the case, they buckle slightly and once you lift them, they never go down flat enough. Plus, they lose all grip they had to each other and you cannot reinstate this (tongue-n-grove, etc.)

    I wasn't thinking of being too "pretty" about it. Some kind of subtle filler would do. I'll either be living in this house or renting it, so micro attention to detail is not required.

    Can't say i agree,did this in my 1930's house, lifted the original floor, insulated underneath, closed the gaps, sanded & varnished. 15 years down the line & 2 kids, no movement/creakiness. I have lovely original warm floorboards, was the cheaper option at that time then getting carpet :D
    No one said it was gonna be easy!
