Car Insurance Question: Is this legal?

Husband and wife (living in the same house). Husband insures both his and his wife's car (because it's cheaper that way) but his wife is the main driver of the second car.
Is this legal, or should the wife insurance in her own name?

Who is classed as the main driver in the second car? Whose name is the car registered in?
If the husband (because it is cheaper) it is called "fronting" and you would likely find that the insurance would not pay out in the case of a claim when they realise that the husband is classed as the main driver on both cars.
Wife should insure in her own name and then can start building up own no claims so it will come down after the initial high year
The other danger is that, if the insurance company suss this out before a claim they could cancel the policy which will affect you as the policy holder and you would need to declare this for ever more0 -

Yes it's ok to do this. (Assuming you put the wife on as the main driver)0 -
Who is classed as the main driver in the second car? THE WIFE
Whose name is the car registered in? THE HUSBAND0 -
As long as all the facts have been declared correctly and all assumptions apply then it is perfectly "legal".
The main problem in this scenario is that most online systems do not allow you to declare the main driver but instead assume it is the policyholder and therefore to continue down this track you would be forced in most cases to switch to the phone to complete the sale thus possibly losing online discount and/ or cashback etc0 -
Thanks everyone!0
