What exactly the OP failed to understand?

Rather obviously they failed to understand how you cancel the contract.

As the T&Cs the OP agreed to clearly state, it is a 24 month minimum term, not 24 month maximum term, and you have to give 30 days notice to cancel it.

Cancelling a direct debit does not equal cancelling a contract. In Vodafone's eyes you are merely changing the way you're going to pay for the contract.

[STRIKE]Really? What else should they have done besides giving a notice of cancellation?[/STRIKE]I am sorry. Vodafone is all over the place and I confused this post with another today's one :o: Vodafone ruins another life!

[STRIKE]The OP did give the notice. However, if you read the post you'll see that apparently there was no any paperwork at all, let alone clearly saying 24. Over a phone OP apparently agreed to 18 and Vodafone were unable to provide any proofs that it was 24.[/STRIKE]:o

I hoped that this time you would make an effort and read the entire post, not just the first few lines.

After cancelling the DD the OP admitted making an 'idiotic' mistake and paid the disputed amount. However, Vodafone failed to terminate the contract again despite that "they asked ...to pay first and they will then cancel" and despite the OP having "asked the girl ...on the phone to 'cancel the bloody account' many times". In fact they had no right to refuse cancellation until the OP paid.

    Hi Ace2008,

This is certainly not good to see but thanks for bringing it to my attention.

All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it will take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Kind regards,
