Parcel just too big for collect plus

Options
Hi,

I've just sold an item on ebay and I wanted to send it via collect plus but the max dimensions are 50x30x30 cm and mine is 36x32x32 cm and 2.6kg.

I've seen that myhermes has mixed reviews so I will try and avoid it.

I would also like more insurance on my parcel it is worth £800 (collect plus is only up to £300)

Which would be the best carrier. The post office with £500 insurance (special delivery) has quoted me £25 delivery. Thanks

Hi, since Royal Mail put up their prices last month, I have been using MyHermes for all of my parcels except for the few that are small and light enough to go through the post office. I have posted 50+ parcels and the only one that has gone missing is the one by Royal Mail . I can highly recommend MyHermes actually but I suppose it varies on your individual couriers.

I think their insurance is only up to £250. Is there a carrier for which could do up to £800?

Try transglobalexpress or p4d. Personally I would be inclined to use RM for £800, assuming it is not on their list of exemptions it will be an easier claim should there be an issue.
  • https://www.parcelmonkey.co.uk . Use their own next day service as it's more reliable than city link's. It's £8.49 + VAT for the and £14.99 for the insurance.

I think I remember Collect+ saying somewhere that they won't reject your parcel if it's slightly over. I think it's mainly just a guideline to stop shops from being filled up with huge parcels.

    Try www.interparcel.com

Personally, I can't fault the UPS option.

£7.99 + vat and insurance can be increased from the standard £50 upto £1000

Collect+ will take it, as they don't measure everything to the nearest mm like the Royal Mail

    Collect plus use Yodel.

I'd not trust Yodel to make me a cup of tea without cocking it up let alone delivering something worth £800, plus they're owned by the Barclay Bros who are a pair of sihtheads who don't seem to like paying tax.

    Consider UPS via interparcel.

Whoever you use check carefully through their insurance terms and conditions - there are often a lot of exclusions. No point in paying extra if you can't claim.

City link will add cover for not much extra. Go direct to city link and not via Parcel2Go as its cheaper.
