achy right thumb - feels better when I'm not on computer!

I don't know if it's RSI per se - but I do think it's the mouse. Ideas on a cheap mouse that isn't aggravating my right thumb? Someone suggested Trackpad (on facebook) but I neither have a Mac at home or work!
The sore thumb ache goes on for some time (sometimes days) & whilst I could/will see my GP I am not to stop using the computer.

What about a trackball?
You can pick them up from place like Amazon (not sure of prices though) and it's supposed to be a straight replacement for a mouse.
Or try one of http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_sabc?url=search-alias%3Daps&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1368534589008#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=finger%20mouse&sprefix=finger+m%2Caps%2C272&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Afinger%20mouse:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Get some double sided sticky tape and stick something extra to the left hand side so your thumb is resting in a comfortable place.

Goto a shop or computer fair and test some. If your mouse is too big or too small it will vary where your palm and fingers rest.
I have a chunky one with side forward and backwards buttons. Comfortable or me. But others may find it unusable.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Firstly: If you are at all concerned, see a doctor. This post isn't medical advice.
A good mouse can make a hell of a difference. Look for one that rather than being mostly flat on top curves down to the right a bit. The human hand's most natural position is the vertical "about to shake hands with someone" position and while you can get specialist mice in that shape, they are expensive and may not be necessary if you can address this early on.
For the record, I have problems with both my hands. By the time I was 18 I'd reached a point that typing for more than about 15 minutes was agony. GP wasn't interested. Today I use a Kinesis Advantage keyboard to address this, it costs about £200! you don't want to end up like me.
The mouse I use is a Logitech MX518, it only has a slight curve to it, but it seems to be enough.0 -
Oh, for goodness' sake - use the mouse with your left hand.0
