plug in car heaters

has anyone used those car ceramic plug in fag lighter instant heaters/coolers they sell for 19.95 - are thery any good do they give instant heat and quicker than car warming up or are they just a gimmick?

    i bought one when the heater packed up on our old renault van and it was absolutley useless,in fact if your heater has packed up i can recomend getting stuck in 2 feet of mud and revving the hell out of the engine for half an hour,because it started working again after that.....

    The heater on the wife's KA packed up and she insisted on getting one of these, for the time before the garage could take the car in. The phrase "snake oil" springs to mind.
    The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
