Peter Jones ended up losing it all too in his twenties,he was sleeping on an office floor.Doesnt seem to be doing so bad now though.
If you read up on most millionaires a lot have lost it all and then built it up again.0 -

A lot of new wealthy people started with nothing and gambled because they had nothing to lose.
Like a lot of gamblers they simply don't know when to give up and bank the chips."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

too true, shows up their gumption. Prepared to take risks to make it big - sometimes it does not pay off....0 -
So if he has debts of £122 million and a fortune of £85 million...
I'm worth more than Duncan Bannatyne!!!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Not to worry all this furore will bolster his fortune once everyone buys his new book soon out in print .
It must be near to a visit to the "One Show " sofa for further promotion of his survival story.Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -

Are you? I'm not sure because the article isn't clear, and because of the source you really can't rely on the integrity or even financial knowledge of the source.
I would define wealth as assets less debts, also they refer to the £85m as last year's position. But from the lack of information it sounds to me like last year his 'net worth' was £85m, but it isn't clear what his net worth is now. I wouldn't read too much into what his debts are until it is clearly defined what exactly they mean by it.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I really doubt that most millionaires have done so. Obviously 100% of celebrity millionaires who have "lost it all and built it up again" and cashed in by releasing ghost written autobiographies about how they lost it all and built up again did - that is probably about 0.01% of the population of millionaires though.0 -

Yes it is hardly newsworthy to run a story 'Previously skint multi milionaire still skint * years later'Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
Bannatyne has suckled at the teat of the BBC for years now. I have never once seen him invest in anything on Dragon's Den and I bet the reason for that is due to the parlous state of his finances.
It's well known that Deborah Meaden and James Caan always get a round in but I bet he is always in the gents or at the back of the pub claiming he cant get a mobile signal when its his turn (with all the other Scots - ruggedtoast dons flame retardant clothing).0 -

'Banking the chips' would be pointless
They do what they do because they get a great high out of making money. The accrued fortune is just a by-product or a performance indicator of their success, the money per se, means relatively little to them.
Sitting on a beach with millions in the bank would certainly do it for me, but not them, they're wired different to most people.0
