Deed plans

Hi

We are selling off F_I_L's house to pay for care home fees.

We are fencing off some of the large garden to retain and are told we need a 'deed plan' for the property and its new grounds.

I have looked at the Land Registry's site, but if we do not want to draw this up ourselves, which professional is best to do this? Is it only a surveyor, as someone has suggested that architects can also do this?

Is there any guidance as to cost of someone marking out the new boundaries on an ordnance survey map, probably with a site visit?

TIA

Vigman

Architects design buildings, a surveyor would be the correct professional.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Do you have POA for him? If so, it's important to protect your position and get everything done professionally. You would be able to reclaim the costs from your FIL, even if you have to wait until the house is sold to do so.

Thanks. Yes, my sister in law has POA and we are getting a surveyor to draw this up now.

Generally true, but my uncle was chief architect for the then Rhodesia and designed the open park areas. He also designed all the war UK grave sites in Italy!

I just wondered if folk here had ever used an architect to draw up deed plans?

An architect sees a house with land round it. A surveyor sees a plot of land with a house on it! ;)
