The main problem I have is we haven't exchanged contracts as yet. The only way I'm willing to hand in my notice is once contracts have been exchanged and we've got a set date for completion (I'm not willing to leave myself and my partner with any possibility of being homeless just for the sake of saving a bit of cash on the rent), but if that set date doesn't tie in correctly for my months notice, we could be abroad and therefore I won't be here to hand it in. I think the only way forward is to give longer than a month as previously said, or alternatively just accept that we'll have slightly longer to move everything across and just hand it in once we return?

But we've just told you to pre-write it and get someone to mail it on your instruction if it needs sending!
