Need urgent Advice & help on Car insurance (NCD)???

Hello All,

I need some advice on the new car insurance. I'm unable to claim my 7 years no claim discount. I collected them from 2004 to 17 January 2011 (when I cancelled my policy, since my car was scrapped)

After 2 years of gab without owing no car. I now decide to buy one.

Yesterday I checked for some insurance deals and I was happy what I saw in comparison sites. I got £600 per year with my 7 NCD. So I went brought the car, but Im shocked to learn that esure cannot accept my NCD because its older than 2 years. This what I got from their website too,

We are unable to accept the following as proof of no claim discount:
Proof of no claim discount which is over two years old.

When I checked my deals without NCD, my god, insurance went high has £2000

What annoys is this, I been a good driver,
1) Never had accident or claimed anything for last 9 years,
2) from 2011 to till now (2013) I rented car numerous times, never had any problem

so my questions are??

Can I not use the car rental also a evidence of a NCD.

Is there an insurance company which will take my 7 NCD if it older than 2 years.

I'm really shocked & need some good advice. Im stuck.

Look forward to your replies, if you have any questions, please do ask me.

Thanks in advance.
MC

Most companies won't accept proof of no claims more than 2 years old. However, it might be worth going back to the company you last insured with and see if they'll accept it, if you haven't already.
I had a similar position having been with the company with the red telephone ;). They stated they would recognise up to 3 years NCD earned with them so long as you stayed with them.
If that's the case, do a year to reinstate your NCD and then you're free to move where you like.

Co-operative is your best bet for NCD up to 3 years old

Unfortunately looks like your going to struggle here then as most insurance companies class NCD as expires after 2 years of no use.

Though you maybe lucky to find somewhere that accepts up to 3 years, lots of calls ahead to find someone though.

The other alternative is if you have years of driving without claim and have proof of this so ex company car driver, expired NCD ect ect

If you explain your situation on the phone when you contact various brokers and insurers, then state your interested in what introductory offers they have in terms of drivers without NCD or insurance underwriters who will accept the NCD you have proof of.

Defiantly worth trying both of these.

Not exactly the same, but I got six years' NCD when I switched from a company car to my own insurance. It was not straightforward, as my then employer had had an "any employee, any vehicle owned or leased" fleet policy, rather than one in my name and had changed insurers several times over the preceding five years. To compound matters, I had had a non-fault accident during that time as well.

But Aviva were willing to accept that as an NCD, and when I left them a few years later they issued me with an eight year NCD notice which my next insurer was perfectly happy to accept. That's much better than an "introductory discount", because the problem then is that when you leave, you only have NCD for the number of years you were insured with that insurer.
