Can I really claim? OLD HFC

HI All,

Like a total fool back in 2007 decided it would be a great idea to purchase a laptop from pc world! They saw me coming a mile off.

After the guy gave me the tour and said the " one for me" was this one, being a very expensive one, he said we could talk about an easy an affordable payment plan. GREAT.

So I signed the paperwork in my excitement he quickly touched on the formalities and said the rest would be in the post, all good.

NOT REALLY!!! I fell into massive financial hardship something which has not got any better, and the account defaults. I had received a default notice to which it stated that I had no PPI on the account.
HOWEVER, I have recently moved house and needed to do a big paperwork clear out, and found the old credit agreement.
It actually says I do have PPI?

I am confused now. I have signed this, but totally did not know I had this on the agreement, I feel very stupid that I have signed this as it looks as though I have knowingly and willingly accepted the PPI which is NOT the case, and need to know can I still try and put in a claim ?

I have just tried to attached a few sheets from the agreement to see if this will help but it wont allow me as i am a new user.

Any help from you guys will be greatly recieved.

xxx

The agreement is not proof you actually paid the insurance of course, you could have declined it within the first thirty days for instance.

Regardless, do be aware that as you defaulted on this any redress potentially awarded would go first towards any outstanding debt or monies written off as part of a debt management plan etc.

as far as I know as i didn't know i had the insurance in the first place, so i am pretty sure i wouldn't have declined it, i would be more than happy for anything to come off of the outstanding balance, it may help reduce the amount owing which was bumped up in the monthly payments.

i do remember receiving a letter saying that the PPI i had, had been taken on by a new insurance company but because i didn't know about it, i just disregarded the letter. i am not sure if my hoarding ways will have kept such a letter, or if it would help.

would i honestly be wasting mine and everyone elses time in trying to claim?

    Who knows?

The Bank say you had no PPI, but you have evidence to suggest you may have.

What reasons would you give for complaint about this insurance?

It's not automatically "wrong" to have PPI.

i would say the reason is, mis sold as I had no idea it was on the agreement or that the paperwork i signed was in fact for ppi.
I am very naive and very unsure about this hence asking for advice, i am not sure still if I have no legs to stand on, if I do try to claim I will just try and have a look at the threads on here and work it out see what happens.

    thanks again for replies

This is not a valid complaint, I'm afraid. If you had no idea what was on the paperwork then why did you sign? This suggests the fault lies with you for not reading what you signed.

Still confused, as when I signed the paperwork, the guy selling just said that it was the credit agreement for the laptop and we ran through those ts and cs i signed but was totally unaware of the ppi box having a yes in it?
the shop assistance signature is on the side of the form for ppi mine is later on another page. messy

im confused as it says in the link you sent

" If you find something on your paperwork you didn't know about, investigate. "

which is what i am trying to do, would i investigate with pc world, hfc or the ppi insurance people who are as far as i can see hamilton
    ?

    sorry to be a pain

You can "investigate" not reading the contents of your agreement until years later all you like!

It still won't make them liable for you signing what you didn't read!

The paperwork you have is the original given to you when you signed-you cannot really be suggesting it has somehow been "altered" before it was given back to you?

If you want a refund of this insurance focus instead on whether the insurance was suitable for your needs.
