Damp House Renting

Hi

I had a viewing on saturday and really this house, so I paid the application fee (£240). But I found later in the day the block of flats I was about to rent have a major dampness problem.

Do I just let the application fee go down the drain since it is non-refundable or take the issue upto to the letting agents?

Thank you for your advice on the same.

How did you find out about the damp? Was there anything wrong with the property you viewed or just another one in the block?

I didnt notice anything regarding the dampness during the viewing, but a co-worker's friend used to stay there. Apparently a bunch of people left the building (including a previous tenant of the flat I viewed) and was told not to rent that flat!
