Gas Fire or Central Heating
We've just bought a reasonably big 1920s terraced house and the existing fireplaces have been blocked up with 1960s gas fires placed in front.
We intend to remove the 60s gas fires, but is it worthwhile replacing them at all?
Option 1) Replace them with repo victoria ones.
Option 2) Just open up the fireplace and do a decorative nest of wood and candles!! ie. Doesnt function.
We intend to replace the central heating... but my question is whether in the absence of a nice log burner, is there any point in putting a repo victoria fireplace in?

Unless the 'opened up' chimneys have an effective restrictor fitted, you can expect to lose a substantial amount of heat to the
atmosphere, for open-plan dwellings expect to lose a lot more.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
