Please - can someone explain to me why only one bid for my item ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=ipad+1st+16gb+-3g&LH_Auction=1

I don't understand. I'm selling my ipad, it's in good nick, I've described it well, I started the bidding price appropriately having checked what others have sold for very recently.

with 3 1/2 hours to go, mine only has one bid. Next one down has more bids for more money, basically the same thing ??

    Hi there,

Probably because you started it at £100 - its taken the other one a lot of bids to get it to £137 and more people will watch an expensive item at a cheap price rather than the one starting at £100.

They also have more high quality photos so you can see better the exact condition.

In the end it is unlikely to make a difference, they might end up with a few more watchers who looked at it when it was a lot cheaper but they are unlikely to be the final bidders anyway.

You also photo'd it on your bed! A table might have been a better idea. (who knows that might attract some buyers...)

    Gary.

Actually My husband photographed it on our dining table which has a white cloth.

ETA - I am happier now, as the bids have gone up to £150. When I checked before putting this on ebay, these in good condition were fetching between £165 - £200, so I'm happy I'm not a million miles away from that.

I'm not a very experienced ebay seller, I'm finding it nerve wracking.

It's a bit like one of those reflectoporn pictures (except he's clothed)

Many auctions get a flurry of bids in the dying seconds, so you may be pleasantly suprised at the final price.

Incidently, I try to get as little as possible of my house in the background as possible in my photos, as I think it's a bit distracting for buyers.

If they are anything like me they try to have a good look at your house, rather than the object you are selling

I would have put my white sheet over the sofa, so the whole background was white.

But you have a nice house, OP!

Well thanks goldengirl, but all you can see is a bit of my dining table (which apparently looks like a bed!) and the bookcase with a rather leggy plant on it :D

Just a thought for you, the item should be sent Special Delivery in order to cover you for the value if it is lost in the post. Is this what you mean by RM Guaranteed Delivery ?
