I had a really impressive presentation today from 1st Choice Solar. Geoff went into great detail and answered all my questions .. no mean feat! He left me some information in writing and has already followed up by email. Very positive vibes .. and the dog liked him!
Tomorrow I'm expecting The Phoenix Works in the morning and Save Heat NE in the afternoon. Making a comparison will be very interesting.

Hi Loretta,
What sort of prices are you being quoted now?2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
Hi Loretta,
What sort of prices are you being quoted now?
Today I was quoted £6350 for a 16 x 250w panel 4kW system plus £460 for an immerSUN device .. but I'm not sure about that as I don't have an immersion heater. (I have an electric multipoint water heater so I'll have to make sure the immerSUN would work effectively with that. I think it would run the storage heaters during the day.)
It was an altogether more pleasant experience: no hard sell, no suggestion of a discount for signing up immediately
and no question of signing away my rights to a cooling-off period.

I had the Connergy panels, and Aurora inverter 4w system fitted for just under £6k 12 days ago, so far about 40% up on predicted figures.
Which company did you go with? I've seen three so far and await the final one this afternoon. One was a non-starter but the other two seemed good. Trouble is, they've contradicted each other so I'm none the wiser.

What a merry-go-round! A friend mentioned the Green Deal and I've wasted the whole day trying to find out more. The government website (https://www.gov.uk/green-deal-energy-saving-measures) sent me to Green Deal Orb (http://www.greendealorb.co.uk/consumersearch) where I put in my postcode and searched. A helpful box offered to email the list out to me so I entered my email address. When I opened the email I saw this:
MIME-Version: 1.0and yards more of it in HTML code .. which was NOT very helpful. I rang the Energy Saving Trust who offered to get a list sent to me but they obviously just used the same site as I received an identical garbled email a few minutes later.

<p>Thank you for your enquiry. The following a search results have been sent to you via the gov.uk/greendeal guide.</p>
I rang to inform the Green Deal Orb website but they said they hadn't sent me anything. I asked for an email address and forwarded it to them. Haven't heard anything yet.
I then found on MSE that some councils had Green Deal funding and mine was listed. I went to their site and, guess what, they directed me here:
For more details on the Green Deal visit www.gov.uk/greendeal or call the Energy Saving Advice Service on 0300 123 1234... back to the drawing board.

I wonder if they come as far as York!
How are the two companies contradicting each other?
Well, only one mentioned a problem with shading; one suggested 10 panels, the other 16; one suggested a three-way inverter, the other micro-inverters at the back of each panel; one suggested immerSUN, the other said it wouldn't work for me as I don't have an immersion heater .. and so on. I am now totally confused but am expecting the final company to arrive any minute (only half an hour late and I had to ring up to find out why they hadn't arrived).
Watch this space.

I'm no expert, but I would have thought having an immersion would be pretty essential if you are having an immerSUN? hopefully just "sloppy" and quoting without checking the details, rather than totally incompetent, or trying to scam you, no doubt some of the more experienced posters will help out regarding your system.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The 'Immersun' would work just as well with any large load (unless of course the proposed load would need a 'normal' voltage applied - e.g. electric motors). I believe storage heaters were mentioned earlier and they'd certainly be fine (albeit that best generation would be at a time of year when you'd probably want to turn them off).NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50
