Solar PV system install

I had the Connergy panels, and Aurora inverter 4w system fitted for just under £6k 12 days ago, so far about 40% up on predicted figures.
Initially the salesperson was on holiday, so the electrician/installer came out to prepare quote, and again I was very impressed, so just haggled the price down to where I wanted it!

I'm in North Yorkshire.
I managed to get the Immerson down to £300 all in and fitted which I am happy with.
So £6,295 for the lot, 16 panels, 10 at the front, 6 at the back, Gallium black on black, Aurora inverter ..... coming to do the survey tomorrow.
One company did come back with a slightly cheaper quote (not Gallium doped), but the company I have chosen impressed me more with answering all my questions and just seemed to have more knowledge and experience.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,

That sounds really good, especially if it's a split system, and with all the price/supply problems with the 'EU v's China stuff' at the moment. Plus the Immersun, plus the Bob's etc. Also comparable to Wh05apk's price.
Total guess but I assume the Aurora inverter will be a PVI-3.6TL, as that has 2MPPTs to run the two roof strings separately (absolutely essential) and quite a low voltage range to cope with the smaller string. Popular and efficient inverter.
Sounds really good. Best of luck. Oh, and if you catch 'PV fever' pop onto the 'generation' thread and post some daily results.

Not sure on PV prices now (panels costs rising) but for a 4kW system, £6000 would be my max.
Thanks for that as it gives me a guide price. I was visited today by someone from SolarTech NE Ltd who was very plausible but quoted for an array of 10 panels which I think he said (he left nothing in writing) was 2.5 kW. He said it would cost £6900 if they send me a quote but, "if you sign up now", it would only be £6200. The slight snag is that there's NO cooling-off period so I would have been committing myself to the contract. Is that legal?
Thanks for any feedback.

PS I have three more visits arranged for next week:- Save Heat Renewables NE Ltd

Which company did you settle on in the end?

Alarm bells ringing like crazy.
The FITs scheme isn't bulletproof but it is pretty well protected, and the companies have to work with MCS and REA. You have to have 7 days cooling off.
There is a tiny exemption, which I nearly used for my extension last July when chasing a tariff deadline, which is that you can write to the company waiving your 7 days right, but you have to explain how you are very well informed and know what you are doing. My installer wasn't keen on doing this, and we needed 8 days to get everything ready anyway. Plus ..... doesn't matter how much you think you know, you still learn something new every day, so don't waive any rights or protection.
As Tunnel says, probably just a sales line, to lock you in. Start searching and haggling.
BTW, going back sometime did you sort out your neighbours woes afterwards?

That sounds very much like someone trying their luck, probably on the off chance you don't have a clue what your looking for. Thanks for that as it gives me a guide price. A 2.5kWp system should be around £4-5k.
take a good browse around on here. its easy to get a feel for what you'd require, then you will have the ammo to make a very informed decision2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -

There was something to sign to say that I wanted to go ahead immediately. The salesman said that an inverter would be ordered which would be linked to my house and couldn't be cancelled. It sounded dodgy to me and I was concerned about people being able to sign away their rights to "cool off".Martyn1981 wrote: »BTW, going back sometime did you sort out your neighbours woes afterwards?
Mart.
Interestingly enough, my elderly neighbours were also due a visit from SolarTech NE today so I rang to warn them about signing anything. They've also asked for a quote to be sent and they also noticed a distinct change in attitude when they didn't sign up immediately. I suppose the sales people only get paid when someone signs up.
My neighbours rang to cancel the previous contract and I typed up a letter which I emailed to the company to make sure they had it in time. Thanks for asking .. that was a worrying time.

Talking to my neighbours, I was surprised to learn that they'd been quoted for a 12 panel but also an 8 panel installation. The fellow who spoke to me only mentioned 10 panels but I was uneasy when he simply typed over a formula in the spreadsheet to get the number he wanted.
