Are Royal Mail stealing their own stamps now!!!

Options
First posting on the praise, vent warning forum.

Long had a poor view of Royal Mail but service is getting ridiculous now.

I got a card delivered last Friday in a plastic cover printed with a note it had been damaged in transit from overseas by an overseas postal service (or words to that effect).

It was posted from Staffordshire!

The envelope was posted at the Post Office with a 20p and 1st Class stamp. The damage was were the envelope had been ripped to remove the 1st class stamp leaving the un-stamped 20p still there.

So it looks like the Post Office took the envelope for posting then someone at Royal mail nicked the un franked stamp and damaged the card!

I doubt someone would steal a stamp, seems like a genuine mistake, which probably happens from time to time.

I imagine that there must be simpler ways for RM staff to be stealing stamps!

No it is the contents they steal, stamps are rarely an issue. Mechanical handling is the likely culprit and the worker comes the incorrect 'apologies' wrapper.

......."mistakes" do not happen in this day and age ! It was probably an attempt at ID fraud or something equally nefarious which seems to happen to everyone in the land at least twice a week - well, reading this site - it does :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
