Getting a replacement decree absolute?

My parents were both divorced when they got together, they're thinking about getting married again but my dad hasn't a clue where his old decree absolute is.
How would we go about getting a replacement please and would I be able to do it on his behalf? The divorce would have been well over 20 years ago, he's hazy on the dates.

Three years ago, when we were planning our wedding, we had to get a copy of my husband's decree absolute as he wasn't sent one. Apparently this was normal if you weren't the petitioner (over 18 years ago). We had to go to the court where the divorce was heard and apply there. We had a copy of the decree nisi and proof of ID for my husband.
Eta: I wasn't allowed to pay for it using my debit card or cheque as it wasn't my decree. Not sure if this has changed or not though.Spam Reporter Extraordinaire

Thank you for your reply!
I found teh form to fill out today and sent it off with a cheque for £60, only to find my Dad had managed to get it today for £5 after some digging.
Will have to phone them tomorrow and try to cancel my search and stop the cheque

I spoke to a very helpful lady at the Decree Absolute Search Section who took my details and the details of the search request and said she would pass them over to their mailing team. I asked if I should cancel the cheque and she said no, they would refund me.
Fingers crossed they manage to sort it for me as I don't want to be £60 lighter!0
