Is there anyone at DABS?

I ordered a computer video card from them last week and a package arrived the following day. Wonderful - NOT!

They sent me the wrong one. You can't contact them by telephone so I filled in their online form to register my complaint on Thursday. Had not heard from them on Friday so sent another message.

Still no reply by Sunday so I completed their online returns form. It's now Monday evening and I still have not heard from them and there is no acknowledgement on their website that I have requested a return!

Any suggestions as to what to do next please?

BarGin

Dabs are very slow to reply and normally don't always answer customers queries. I never shop with them any more for this reason.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

My son has just echoed your words. He doesn't deal with them any more either :confused
Sorry you're having problems with them, is there a postal address anywhere on the website that you can write to? You may find this link useful if you hit big problems with them I hope you manage to get things sorted :ohttp://www.consumeradvice.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

If you ordered it with a Visa debit card, or a credit card (and its for more than £100) you should contact your bank. Visa has rules against non-delivery of goods (well, the wrong goods in this case) and the consumer credit act protects you on all credit cards for items costing over £100 as the credit card company has joint liability with the supplier. Hastle your card issuer and demand they sort out the problem for you... that will get Dabs.com !!!!!! in gear I should think; especially if they chargeback the cost of the item to Dabs's bankers! :D

Hopefully you've paid by credit card in which case they are jointly and severally liable for the wrong item being delivered (under the consumer credit act 1974) and you can demand your money back from them.

The company I work for used to use Dabs for the majority of hardware purchases, but we cancelled our account with them because their service standard was unacceptable. We now use Misco.co.uk (Simply Computers). With Dabs we were made to wait up to 3 months for our orders to arrive and often they sent the wrong items.

A letter of complaint was written to their Head office. Here is the postal address:

    DABS HEAD OFFICE
    Direct House
    Wingates Industrial Park
    Westhoughton
    Bolton
    BL5 3XD

I would recommend writing a letter of complaint to their head office. Make sure your letter is to the point and includes things like customer number, order number and other details related to your order etc, but not credit card details. Specify explicitly what action you want them to take and give them a deadline date by which time the problem must be rectified e.g. 7 days from the date on your letter. Lastly, send it by recorded delivery. That way, there's no way they can pretend that they haven't received your letter.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.

Just to let you know, I gave up trying to contact Dabs to return the item. It seems to be impossible to get a human response from them.

I have now sold the card on eBay at a loss. Suffice to say I will never be purchasing from Dabs again.

Sorry to hear things didn't get resolved. We've bought a fair bit of stuff from them over the years . They aren't perfect, but the longest we had to wait before getting contact from customer service was 1 week.

It's also worth lodging a complaint with your local Trading Standards department explaing what happened. As the head office may be in different area to you, you could ask the details be forwarded to the appropriate local authority. Under The Distance Selling Regulations TS has a duty to investigate complaints- Dabs land address should be prominant on their site. It's wrong that they sit in their Ivory towers, cowering behind their emails.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

I also had a similair experience with Dabs just before Christmas.

I bought an MP3 player paid for standard delivery which was approx £2.75 at the time (and cost 42p to send) and when it was opened on Christmas day it was faulty.

Took me days to navigate their returns system, it seemed that I had an unsupported model or something (never did work out what that meant) and had to return it at my own expense to be checked.

Sent it recorded and waited for days for the status to be changed to received. Several weeks later and lots of emails and a threat to go to trading standards I get a curt email informing me that funds would be recredited to my account shortly.

Trouble is I only got the cost of the item back, not the postage I had paid in the first place. More complaints, none of which got more than a standard response telling me that the money had been recredited.

In the end I gave up as it wasn't doing my blood pressure any good. I still get their blasted mail shots though and am going to return the next one with a letter of complaint saying why I will never deal with them again.
