Bugetting and five week months

My partner is paid monthly on the 15th of every month and we are aware that monthly pay is subject to 4 '5 week pays' per year - he is paid an hourly rate and not a salary.

What I'm trying to find out is in which months those '5 week' pays will occur as I'm desperately trying to plan out our finances ( to make matters confusing I get paid weekly!)

We know that the last '5 week' pay was 15th Feb and the last two march and april have both been '4 week'. We are desperately hoping that this month is a 5 week month as it has been 2 months without, Can anyone help please?

look forward to hearing from you

Is it not straight forward to look at a calendar? It seems you understand the criteria well.

    Hi

Its not a brilliant workout gone from 15th to the next 15th - being as your being paid on 15th its not necessary a 5 week month - its the odd extras - but Mar 2014 be the smallest pay day.
Hope thats helped a little bit.

At least when you get paid, weekly, fortnightly, monthly - you get a better idea of the "bonus months" x

Thanks for your help guys. unfortunately its not as simple as 'looking at a calender' as anoncol might suggest. as looking through 'mum2one's' post shows.

My partner gets paid the same amount most months but the odd month is more (the five week month) so I'm guessing there's a little more than day counting going on!

I presume if you OH is paid on the 15th then it depends on which lies on a working day, and the number of weeks from 15th-15th? Not from the 1st of each month?

It sounds like a standard 4/4/5 accounting/payroll system, so May will be a 5 week pay packet.

As will August, November, and, of course, next February.

Having said that, most salaried people on this type of payroll system are paid on, for example, the last day of the month...not a particular day. So it may not apply to hourly paid staff?

Is there any reason why your partner doesn't simply ask his employer?

He has always told me that he's paid 15th -15th and I assume thats the calculation they do as they also pay attendence allowance for that period so can;t see how they could pay him attendence if they don;t know he's going to be there...

His employer would be able to say for sure.

    From what you've said, neither!

As I said earlier, get him to ask his employer (or check his T&Cs of employment etc).

Budget weekly by dividing every pay packet by five.

Then you'll have a nice bit of savings building up 8 times a year.
