How to send email by clicking link please

If I am looking on a site and I want to send them an email by clicking on "send email" a message comes up saying I cannot do this and to check my default settings to correct it. I can't seem to understand what to do.
I use BT yahoo mail and I use either IE or Google Chrome.

It sounds to me as though the web pages are trying to open up an e-mail app on your machine, but you don't have one. You're accessing emails via your web browser.
Right-click on the links and see if you can save the email address - then paste it into the To field when you compose an email to them.0 -
Microsoft (in their wisdom!?!?) removed the option to select your mail client in the browser.

I switched from BTyahoo email to gmail because of other probs with yahoo
Now in chrome I use the extension 'send this link by gmail'0
