Previous;y i was with British Gas. Done a compariosn and apparantly was cheaper with EDF. After several months with EDF, i owe them £200and that was with a DD for £60 (gas+elec), Had to move my DD to £100. Not used gas or elec above what i have ever done before, so to say i am miffed is an understatement. Oh well, nearly summer lol. Heating deffo off!!

Well if you moved during winter then you can't extrapolate yearly usage based on that. It sounds like EDF have just upped the direct debit hastily because you've been using more than the estimated average - but this is normal since it's been winter. Over the summer you'll use less anyway. I'd ask them to leave the direct debit until at least a couple of summer months have been.
If you entered the values correctly and haven't used more than last year, then it will be cheaper over a year.0 -
Check the prices on your British Gas bills. Check prices of current EDF tariff. Chances are they are not more expensive.0

are you sure you used exactly the same as when you were with BG? This most recent winter has been colder than the previous one, so it wouldn't be unusual for you to have used more energy. Meaning that despite moving to a cheaper tariff your bill will increase.I am an employee of British Gas but all views i write are personal and not a reflection of my employer.0

When did you switch supplier? Most companies have upped their prices in recent months which may account for part of the price rise you've experienced.
When you did the comparison, did you base it on your exact annual usage or estimate usage as this could also make a difference.
As has been said, the weather has been worse so it's likely you have spent more than normal (we all have unfortunately!)0 -
True, don't forget to take into account recent price rises, they're always going up, each and every year.I am a moneysaver0
