Best Student Account 2013?

Hi
DD starting Uni Sept and moves into her digs middle of Sept.
She has a TSB LLoyds basic account with debit card. Can I be cheeky and ask if anyone thinks their student account are any good? She doesn't have any DD's yet as she has a giffgaff PAYG card thing and she has her credit card set up to pay minimim payment, then she can top up if she's used it. IYKWIM.
Can she only have 1 student account for her loan/grant etc? We will be moving money over for her monthly as will other family members.
She is baffled by it all and has asked me to help which I don't mind, but don't know much about student accounts other than they offer interest free OD's which may come in handy, but she is good with her money.
Also, her 1st rent payment is due the end Aug/begin Sept, so I highly doubt her loan etc will be there by then, so we'll sub her. It seems silly theres a period of 3-5 weeks whilst payments go through to accounts although they've been approved?
She needs a student account ASAP as student loans need to know where to pay the money into? All help appreciated.
She currently holds a CC with CO with a £300 limit and pays in full if she uses it.
Would it be easier just for her to ask in LLoyds to upgrade to a student account?
Thanks

Just read through it and spoke with DD, so she applied for the Co-op one. If she doesn't get accepted for that which i can't she why she shouldn't, then she'll just ask in Lloyds to upgrade. Thanks

I've recently opened a Coop one, been great so far.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

It's important to note that most of the banks don't actually release the full details of their student accounts until early August.
There's no real rush to set up a student bank account so it may be worth waiting until then to make sure that you get the best deal possible.
However, Co-op will hopefully offer something similar to what they did last year so you should be safe banking with them.0 -
Thanks Jakal. Its just when the finance amounts came through last week, it stated they needed DD's bank account details. I always thought that most did it at fresher fairs etc?To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

No worries. When I did it I put in my current bank details and then just switched over the info online when I chose my bank account.
A lot of students do it at freshers' week but it's a good idea to always compare online too as they can try to lure students in at the fairs etc. with freebies.0 -
She's just had an email confirming that she has been successful in her student account with the Co-op. Hoping this is good news? We didn't realise we should have waited, but she has a list she's going through and trying to get through everything ASAP.
Thanks for the replies.
