Unlawful practice by HSBC (HFC Bank)…..

Although this is of no interest to me personally, perhaps it might be to some on this board. I'm not sure of the legitimacy of this claim or if it's just touting. If it is legit, it looks like another scandal is brewing!
hundreds of thousands of people have paid, or are still paying “collection charges”, unlawful contingency fees which were added to balances if they defaulted on the following accounts that the bank handled: John Lewis, Dixons, Currys, B&Q, PC World, Furniture Village; Marbles and GM Card credit cards and loans from HFC Bank and Beneficial Finance. There is no provision for these charges in the consumer credit agreements – it is basically theft.

I can assure you it's genuine - it's my website, I am a whistleblower. It will be news soon0

We have a John Lewis credit card and have noticed the last 3 months they have charged us interest. One month we over paid the bill but got charged £12. then the following month paid off £800 of a £850 bill but got charged £16 interest. When I rang them yesterday they said the reason is they charge interest on the WHOLE statement amount and not the remaining. I said this is theft but they said it is industry standard practice. FYI also, they tried to prevent me from making a formal complaint buy asking me 8 times if I wanted to do this. Is this fair regards the interest??? We have paid off the bulk balance yet they still charge the whole amount: double dipping methinksMortgage from £100,400 to currently £77,100 in 7 years:beer:
Starting 2014 goal of seriously cracking my debt! If I wouldn't buy it full price - why bother in the sale :rotfl::money::T:j0 -

Don't worry, you're not the only one to make the odd mistake... I said this is theft but they said it is industry standard practice.
But perhaps not everyone digs up a 1 month old thread to do so
FYI also, they tried to prevent me from making a formal complaint buy asking me 8 times if I wanted to do this. ...
I'm sorry, but you've lost me completely on this one. :huh:0 -
