Changing bank branch

I opened a cardcash account in 2001 with bank of scotland. The branch I opened it with was near my place of work. I no longer work there so can I change the branch to where I now live or do I have to open another account with the new branch?
I am not even sure if the account I have still exists? Can't see it on their website. I haven't used the account in about 8 years but still have a visa debit card for it and the odd statement arrives in the post.
Many Thanks

Long gone are the days where you bank even has to have a branch, let alone near you.0

It's utterly pointless. Any branch can assist you with any query. It would involve changing your account number and sort code and redirecting all your payments in and out, new cards, new cheque books, etc.urs sinserly,

You can change the branch that your account "lives" at, but there's no point in doing that. You can everything you want at any branch.
I opened most of my accounts online and so I don't know or care where the account "lives". I'm guessing some central location, but it means nothing to me anyway.0 -

Very true!
I've got a Cambridge sort code (a real branch) with HSBC, and I've never actually been into this branch, it was the closest to where I lived at the time, so it was opened there.
I only use one of their branches half way down the M11, and several in London, depending on which part of London I'm actually in.

If a statement arrives in the post then the account does still exist. The statement should have a phone number if you want to check the answer to your question.I am not even sure if the account I have still exists? Can't see it on their website. I did the same thing, and I always thought my 'home branch' was the one I always visit on my high street. It turns out it was another, smaller branch in my city. I failed security once because I didn't know which was my main branch.
I've only been asked that once and I can't remember why. What will your verse be?
