YBS FREE Accidental Death Cover

Options
Just got a e-mail from YBS advising that their customers can get FREE accidental death cover for 2 years. You get a limited £5000 payout on accidental death.

I'm thinking because it's free why not, but wondered what you guys know about this type of offer?

The insurance company is Avon.

Here is the link the e-mail sends you to.

PS: I have plans in place but see this as a extra payout but wondered if it was marketing ploy.

Cheers
Regards,
Dave

    It's genuine.
Usually there is a time limit (might be one year or tens years).

It is a bit of a marketing ploy because clearly you have shown an interest so they will offer you more that you can purchase.

But if you don't mind them contacting you a couple of times, then there's no harm.

Be careful to tick the box about NOT receiving offers from "specially selected" 3rd parties unless you like junk mail.
Check carefully to make sure you have to check or unchceck the box if you DO or DO NOT want the mail.
I have seen them both ways round so you have to read it carefully.

and after the 2 years, does the cover simply end? or do they start charging for it?

    seems a nice offer, unusual.
shame you have to die to make the most of it. Discrimination against the living I feel. hehe

Hello, I got this too with my emails today. I read it through, then read the terms and conditions.....then I thought !!!!!!? I do not believe in free lunches. Why would AVON want to give me this for nothing?????????
Today, my BEST is good enough.

I had this offer several years ago through Royal Bank of Scotland (I think it was an RBS policy though), they did offer to upgrade the cover if I wanted to pay more but I politely declined and had the free one! Go for it!

They aren't. They are being paid by YBS. YBS are taking the hit financially. However, it isnt much of a financial hit as hardly any of these plans ever pay out and in return YBS get something more valuable.

To obtain details of customers who are interested in this kind of cover that they can then try to sell to.

The chances of dying through an accident in the period specifed are pretty slim.
