Having got the Ombudsman involved, and after about 20 different letters over the past few months, today I received a letter from Aktive stating that they have written off the outstanding balance and they are updating the default entry in my credit files to reflect that the account has been settled. I would prefer if it wasn't there at all to be honest but will take that up with them when they eventually update my file.
