Kindle problem

My kindle paperwhite developed a fault on the screen. bought January 2013 but hhave only read 5 books on it.
I called amazon and they informed me that they would sent me a new one that day. Received the new one yesterday. When setting it up I noted that it is showing multiple dictionaries in many languages. This is a mystery to me. When I look at them to delete they are dated 2011. My question is this Does this mean I have been sent a reconditioned one rather than a new one.?
The origional one I have to send to Amazon via a store in my town centre. Should I not do this then they will charge me. I am happy to do this but I am perplexed !
I would value any information re this.
Thank you
Sue

Kindle paperwhite was not launched till some time after November 2012.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

The kindle paperwhite didn't exist in 2011, so it wont be one from then.
I know the replacements are slightly different to the pure new ones (ie they don't come with a few things) and they are always pre setup connected to your account so it should be clean.
It could just be that's the date of the dictionary itself.0 -
I've just added my grans kindle to my account and set it up for her . I had language dictionary appear in my library so just went to manage my kindle and deleted themHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Amazon just automatically give you all those dictionaries with every Kindle bought. It has nothing to do with the age of the Kindle. Just permanently delete the ones you don't want in Manage Your Kindle.... Thank you all so much for the info. When I set it up I had to set it to my wifi. I have transferred some books etc to the new one. As you say these dictionary made just be there >When the other one was set up I didn't see anything other than give him my wifi password.
At the end of the day all that matters is that I have a kindle that is problem free hopefully.
I need to read some info so that I can make better use of my kindle.
Once again many many thanks

Sue, in case you haven't discovered it yet there is a Kindle Discussion forum on Amazon where you can pick up a lot of useful information, get a thread every day listing free books others have found, and get help with specific problems. It's also the place where Amazon make official announcements of any software updates for Kindles and new models due to be released.
Like any forum it has its trolls, but there are also some very helpful people too.

I have been trying to find out whether this is actually available on Kindle. None of the demos ones in the shops are set to show it. I might buy a Kindle if it allows me to read foreign literature and just click on an unknown word and get an English translation (or a definition in the language concerned). Is that what your one is doing?0 -
Thank you so much for the suggestion re Kindle forum!
I am well past my sell but date but my family buy me all sorts of things which I do love once I get them sorted out.

And so on! I could never me without them all now but I often have to ask a question on the ML forums. I have had do much great responses and people are so kind. I do appreciate. it. Thanks to everyone0
