Tips for growing Stawberries

I have bought three strawberry plants, can I just plant them straight out in the bed? Or do I need to get them used to outside or prep soil in any way?0

Hi, Yes you can plant them straight into the bed. When they start to flower put some netting over the top as the birds like the fruit as much as you do
You can buy the netting from supermarkets/Wilkinsons at this time of the year.
You also want something to raise the fruit off the ground, pet bedding straw is good for this, which is very cheap and can be bought at the same time. Its only because the plants grow on the ground you see rather than a bush and you don't want your fruit on the ground.
If you see any nibbled, don't be tempted to pull them off. Just leave them where they are and whatever has nibbled them, well they just carry on nibbling the same oneNothing to worry about, you are unlikely to loose the lot.
