Will banks or Post Offices change piles/bags of 1pence and 2pence coins, or allow you to pay money into your account in that way?

Yes - you need bank bags (from the bank in the first place) and then sort into the correct amounts (£1.00 in 1ps)
YOu cannot obviously mix the coins in the same bag (e.g 1ps and 2ps in same bag is NOT acceptable)
You could of course buy a coin sorter to do the hard work for you (I've got one as I used to hate counting lots of small copper coins.) Google "coin sorter" if you are interested in that...

in our barclays there is a machine that u can chuck all your change into. u dont have to sort it and it adds it all up for u
it credits your account with the amount and there is no charge for using it

They have machines in Tesco and Sainsburys here that count the money and give you the equivalent in vouchers that you can spend in store... not sure about the Tesco one as I only used the Sainsbury one...

The coinstar machines in tescos etc charge 7.5%, well they did last time i used one about 6 months ago.

our local asda have a machine that takes money, prints off a recipt and you can either use it to pay for your shopping or take it to customer service counter and get the money. last time is used it it took 7p per £1.
