BT - 12 month contract?

Hi, I knwo this is a dumb question, but I have searched high and low for my paperwork and I can find it anywhere, so I will ask here instead.

We joined BT in Aug when we moved to this house. Is it likely that we signed a 12 month contract? I can't remember, and can't find any paperwork anywhere!

    I would imagine so Sarah.

Mine ends (for Braodband) on 3rd July and I am going to try and get out of the last month before I go to sky because their service and customer service is appalling

However - I can only seem to get through to India to raise my concerns and cant bring myself to even attempt to get into an undecipherable conversation with them!!!!

Cheers, I thought it seemed like an obvious question. I also wanna get out, mainly because I want something ALOT cheaper. We only have the line so we can get Broadband (altho not with BT), but I wanna combine the two if I can - AOL is also due to end at the same time.

If only I'd known about MSE etc before I signed up:o

    Thanks TigTag

To summarise then, you have a BT landline but don't need it for telephony - just so you can have (another ISP's) broadband - and want to reduce the cost of the landline A LOT.

I'd be interested to hear how much less than BT's £10.75/month you manage.

P.S. Don't do it, it's not worth it.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I did read about that.... I take it it's not too good then.
Just looked at my bill and my line rental is £17.83 (option 3). Is £10.75 a month Option 1 or something else?

No wonder you want to reduce your landline costs - if you don't make (m)any voice calls, you certainly don't need to pay extra for an 'all UK 01/02 calls included' package (BT Together Option 3).

Yes, £10.75 is the cost of BT Together Option 1.

Please click on the 'HERE' link in my signature below on ways to reduce voice telephony costs.
