Large record collection, keep or sell?

Sorry, but eBay is the best place.
Describe them honestly, pack them carefully, and they'll find their own level, price-wise.
The pressing vintage is becoming more and more crucial in this market - first pressings of early 1970s vinyl will fetch more than later repressings. The 2 most recent Led Zep 1s that sold on the Bay went for £1600 and almost £2000, but later versions barely fetch £20 or £30...
Determine the provenance of each pressing with reference to the matrix numbers found between the run-out grooves and other details, along with other info from online searches (such as a google for "Hendrix early pressings matrix numbers" or similar)
Honestly - are they in good condition? Have they been looked after?0 -
You can try selling them to your local record shop, but trust me, they WILL know what they can get for them on eBay, and will offer you substantially less than this.
I've notched up over 400 eBay transactions, including buying and selling vinyl, and haven't come anywhere close to being 'scammed' - what do you think is going to happen?0 -
Thanks for all replies I will check out the records to see if there are some hidden gems.
Re scammed: I just worry about reversed Paypal transactions and as they are of a late family members it would upset me for them to be "stolen" and for me to be out of pocket with ebay/paypal fees. If it was anything else it wouldn't bother me.0 -
Hi, a family member died recently and left me with around 500 LP records/albums. I wondered whether I could get anything for them and if so, how I would go about it? It seems a shame to take them to a charity shop, when I could really do with some extra cash. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thank you.0

googler's answer to your identical post yesterday is as good an answer as you are likely to get, unless you are prepared to spend some time looking through them to see exactly what you have.
It is difficult for others to give much more advice unless you provide us with a bit of detail.
Even a note of more than one LP by particular performers would be something, as it might indicate the type of music they were 'into'.
As googler indicated, there are some highly prized records because of their rarity.
There are various websites dedicated to the buying and selling of such records, but you need to know exactly what you have for these to be of any use.
(Incidentally, how were you able to be registered on MSE for 3½ years before being tempted to post? Your powers of restraint must be great.)
