Hi,
We have a large record collection but we may be moving house soon so we were thinking of selling them.
This might be a stupid question but is this a good idea or will records be worth more in the future and should we hang on to them?
They are mostly dance/hard house and some indie records.
Thanks.:)

Hard to say - if they are what's know as 'populist tat' you'll be hard pressed to make much money, and for collectors they would have to be well cared for!0

Oh okay thanks for replying.:) I'm not really bothered about making a lot of money from them, I just don't want to have to lug them to a new house.:D
I gave away all my CD's and books to charity but I thought a collecter might want records as they have a certain appeal now.0 -
It all depends on what people are prepared to pay. Also, collectors like their vinyl in prestine condition.
Check out discogs for ideas about what music is worth/selling for at the moment.
You never know, you could be sat on collection of records that are worth selling.0 -

Cool, I will thanks.:)0 -
Hopefully you get a nice surprise0

There are generally enough decent copies still in circulation from that era to keep prices down but you never know? Go for it.0

I should imagine there would be more demand for "dance/hard house" on vinyl than say kagagoogoo or something, but as others said it would depend on how many copies of these there are around. If there are plenty they might not be worth all that much.0

I've been trying to sell 600 funky/soulful house 12's and I've been offered next to nothing for them and I'm not prepared to let them go so cheap - cost me a fortunate over the years.
Depends how rare they are to whether people will pay a decent price for them.0 -
I might be interested in some of the indie records, but then, maybe I wouldn't. It depends what they are.
For ANY 'how much is it worth' questions, it's really handy to do an advanced search on eBay. You have to be registered to do an advanced search. Go in, and tick 'completed listings only' and do your search - you'll get the items that have finished - with a red or green price. Red means it didn't sell, green means it did. Look at the condition etc of the green items and judge the value of your records (or anything else) from that. You can then pick out the valuable records for eBay, and take the rest to vinyl shop. DON'T throw them out.0 -
Hi, I have been entrusted with the custody of my late fathers vinyl collection of mainly Hendrix, Bowie and others all early 70's. I wish to sell them to put to my savings.
Could you please advise best route to go down to sell as I don't want to eBay for such an item - risk of getting scammed that's all.
Thanks in advance.0
