Right I gather this is from mcol ? So go online and login into their website, acknowledge the claim and say you are going to defend this in full, request additional time to formulate your defence, it should be 28 days.

Once you've done that come back here for further advice, don't worry about this as its not meant to go before a judge, it's purely to try and intimidate you and force a settlement. If it ever went to court you'd transfer it to a court local to you

CEL claims aren't done via MCOL, they use the manual system through the bulk clearing centre at Salford, which is where the forms need to be returned.

There's a guide to all the procedures in post #2 of this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4585747

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

That poster is already on pepipoo getting a defence sent. You can too.

CE are simply fishing for victims who either don't defend, defend badly, or panic and pay. You can avoid all of that if you submit a strong defence which is why we advise pepipoo in the sticky about 'small claims by PPCs' already linked by bargepole.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If the solicitor is who I believe it is then he is, generally, a criminal solicitor. Different.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
