i have a mortgage life assurance with CI cover costing me £70/month. Iam 37 yeas old, non smoker. after watching watchdog on BBC few weeks ago about CI policies not paying for people diagnosed with cancer because of some rubbish excuses not declaring an irrelevant illness in child hood) i started to wonder will i be better off cancelling the I part ofthe policy and saving that money. was born overseas and i lived abroad till the age of 20 years and i am worried that if i make claim they might come up with silly excuses for not paying (as we do not trust the health records in that country or we dont accept their vaccination programme for kids...etc)... i need advice please

Watchdog were criticised after that episode for using inaccurate data or using it out of context (nothing new there with Watchdog). The FOS had to publish clarification afterwards as the data wasnt used correctly.i am worried that if i make claim they might come up with silly excuses for not paying (as we do not trust the health records in that country or we don't accept their vaccination programme for kids...etc)...
Most providers are actually closer to the 5% mark for non-disclosure failure. Around 15% are declined for not covering the thing being claimed for. It is fairly common for people to mix up PHI and CI as being the same thing. CI is not income protection.
If you have been honest in your application, why should you fear anything?i need advice please
Watchdog isn't the place to get it. It has an awful reputation.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
