Help - Tesco credit card

Could maybe someone give me some advice on this problem my Father is having with his tesco credit card?

The problem is that he went to Asda petrol station and filled up the car with £50.01 worth of diesel and paid for it as normal using chip and pin. Few days later he had been charged £50.01 again that shows up on the statement when he has only filled up the family car once with £50.01 worth of petrol.

The first step he has taken is by filling in some form which he isn't sure which particular form it was and the reply he has got back was that they wouldn't refund him the money.

What step do I take next on his behalf as he has already paid this months bill off in full.

Call Tesco and dispute the transaction. The petrol station will then have to prove the transaction was made twice.

Update - So I had rung up Tesco obviously with my father's permission and they had advised me to go back to Asda and get the money from them. So I had gone back to the same Asda store who the kind lady did a search on the system for all the tills that are in the actual store and not the tills for the petrol station booths and turns out for the two dates that there has been a double charge for the same price doesn't show up in the retail store so I suggested maybe you should check who had made two duplicate payments from the petrol station tills.

The reason being is that if you buy something from the actual asda store, it shows up as Asda superstore and if you purchase fuel it shows up as Asda petrol, both asda superstore and asda petrol show up with asda petrol showing up on the second transaction for the date when my father hasn't even set foot into the store or petrol station. So the lady has got the manager for that store to investigate the transaction because obviously it won't show up in the system for that date if £50.01 has been spent on the two separate days. Seems like we will get the money after all. Fingers crossed.

If it's a duplicate transaction the card issuer should dispute it and refund the card. However, if your Dad always fills up with a similar amount, it's sometimes possible for transactions made on different days or weeks to appear at the same time. Again the card issuer will know the actual transaction date for each transaction, could this be what happened ? The transaction date is never the same as the debit date, the debit always comes through a couple of days after the card was actually used. Get you Dad to check his receipts against his statements.

    I second this post.

I work in a petrol station last year and there was a lady who had said we'd charged her twice.

It actually turned out she'd spent the same amount within a couple of days but had forgotten she'd been in the first time.

Pleased to hear you are getting it sorted, however.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I've checked his receipts and he only has on receipt for that day at night when he put fuel in his car. Also we had the kind lady check on their system for all the tills in actual store if on that day £50.01 had been spent but nothing had come up for both days meaning that obviously me dad hasn't spent a single penny in the actual retail store meaning he obviously has only spent that amount of money once in the petrol station side of asda. We're having the manager of the store to investigate it for us.

Yeah, apparently there have been situations like that in the asda near to me where I live.
