Natwest Charges

Early on in my 6 years of statements there are 2 seperate charges of £14 and £6. The £14 seems to be an unnaranged borrowing fee and the £6 sems to be a service charge. I have read somewhere that I can claim the £14 but not the £6 ?????????
Later on in the statements these charges seem to change and get lumped together as a £20 and is just called "Charge". I asume that this is the £14 and £6 lumped together to total the £20. Can anyone confirm this and tell me if I can still claim the £14 portion of it??????

Thank you

Emma:confused:

When they are separate claim for the £14 but not the £6

When they are lumped together claim for the £20. It's up to the bank to query it, then explain what the charge is actually for.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.

At the top of the page in whatever section you want to ask the question there is a button that says "New Thread"... click on that

The general rule of thumb is that if you got something for the charge then you can't claim, if you didn't get anything for it then you can.

For example service charges you pay on certain accounts gives you extra frills like AA membership, or no commission currency exchange, or slightly higher interest rates, or a voucher for a case of wine etc etc thse sorts of things aren't claimable.

Charges that are basically a punishment or a slap on the wrist and you don't actually reap any benefit from paying that charge, these are the ones you can claim.

  • Cheers hun, I just wish that they didnt try to confuse us the term that are total crap and make no sense. i guess that how they have got away with it for so long.
I think i'm gonna be claiming quite a tidy sum. Nice little car i think!:j
  • I have now noticed that the £20 charge changes to £28 "Charge" does anyone know what this is actually for and if i can claim the lot or only a portion of it. Why cant things be easy?
