How does multi-car work?

Options
My insurance expires on the 15th of this month and my wifes is roughly mid-July, just a few queries:

1) How does multi-car work if we both have separate insurance renewal dates?

2) Also, I've noticed there doesn't seem to be price comparison for multi-car insurance (correct me if I'm wrong)?

3) Does anyone have experience of car insurance brokers? Can they offer me a better deal?

I'm guessing if I currently pay £35 p/m and my wife (being a new driver) pays £90 p/m we can probably expect to pay a total of around £100 a month?

(She will be one year driving, license held and ncb in mid-July this year)

Here's a couple of examples of how they work

    http://www.aviva.co.uk/multicar-insurance/

    http://www.admiral.com/multi-car-insurance/

Don't think the comparison sites can cope. As far as a broker goes, try a local one.

I got a quote from Admiral for a single car, and it was within £10 of double what I'm paying now.

I noticed on my credit report that Aviva did a credit check on me last year (when my wife was looking for car insurance with me as a second driver).

It's just a generic identity check not a full credit check, no one else looking at your report sees it , only you !

Well my wife just did a check now:

    £1000 from Admiral

Or I get £500 for mine (up from £300 on the comparison sites) and £600 for hers (Admiral multi-car).

Multi car policies are not always cheaper.

£35 for you + £90 for your wife on separate policies maybe £200 a month on a multicar one.

Are you the sort of customer they are looking for?
