t-mobile PAYG sim

I bought a t-mobile sim card for a spare phone, and a £5 top up voucher, but I am now stuck! The voucher has to be redeemed by texting VO and the 16 digit number to 150 but how do I register the sim card? I have had other sim cards in the past and never had this problem. What am I doing wrong? Have been on to the T-mobile site but that was no help. Would be grateful for someone to point me in the right direction.

TIA

Don't you register it by signing up online?

Don't you have to initially top up with £10 and then you can send the text. Just something that's nagging at the back of my mind. I also seem to remember having to wait for the activation. Try turning it off then on again and you may have to wait from 1 to 24 hours. Have you tried dialling '4444'?
  • I may be missing something, but as I recall when I've had new PAYG SIMs, just putting the SIM in the phone seems to activate it.

Once activated you can phone up and enter the number on the top up.

Web registration has advantages but I think is optional.

Thank you, I thought I was getting senile, as I used to put in a sim and that activated the phone. Still no joy with this one, I may go to one of the T-moble shops in town (if they are still there!) and see if they can help me.

Many thanks to all of you who responded.
