There is a Travelodge on Upperbrook St which is just under 1/2 a mile away from the hospital. The reviews for it on Trip Advisor look OK.
You will find various B & B's listed on the Trip Advisor website if you type in the search panel Travelodge on Upperbrook St Manchester then click on the map on the right hand side with the heading Browse Nearby and up pops a map with various accomodation on display.0 -

Most of the B&Bs near the children's hospital are dog rough though. The travelodge is a good idea, or there's a holiday inn on Oxford Road.0 -
There is one on the hospital site, you get to it from Hathersage Road, I think it is McDonalds Hotel and they do cheap rates for relatives of patients. I have no idea what it is called? and I work on the site!
the hospital switchboard is 0161 276 1234 perhaps they have a contact number.
just looking up prices, the Brittania comes up cheap, and its about 30 minute walk away, 15 mins on bus or 10 mins in taxi?

This is the link to Ronald McDonald House in Manchester. Parents can stay for free, although they welcome donations. it is dependent, of course, on whether they have an vacancies.
I have stayed in RMH at Alder Hey twice, and they are fantastic places. To save money, you can cook in your own kitchen area, with your own fridge and cupboards. There is a lounge and a playroom, and any other children that you have can usually stay with you.
Whatever you are staying for, I hope everything goes well. I know how worrying it is when your child is ill or needs treatment or surgery.
Take care x0 -
Thank you everyone for your help, really useful. I think I will book the travelodge for the night as we are only there for an appointment but the little one is expected to have a few stays and operations I believe so will look into the McDonald house for then.
Thank you again, really appreciate it xxx0
