RBS Select Account.

I think it is reprehensible that RBS have decided at a stroke to change customer current accounts to their new Select Account as of 12 July 2013.
Rather than offer the new account to new customers after this date, they are instead imposing it with all its new terms and conditions on existing customers.
In my existing account I have an overdraft facility for £1000. With the added faciliy that I can be overdrawn up to £100 at any time without penalty charge or interest. This is ideal for a busy account where occasionally it can stray temporarily into the red by a nominal amount.
This has been replaced in the new account with the condition if I stray over £10 into debit I will be charged £6 for the privilege.
I have been a customer with RBS for over 40 years. This is no way to refund loyalty. No option offered. Take it or leave it. I will be leaving to go elsewhere.

I took the opportunity to switch to first direct. 100 quid for switching, since i meet their requirements. 250 quid interest free overdraft, just in case. so far, i'm happy with them.0

Current/Select/Personal Current are identical anyway. The Select isn't 'new' it's the charges that are.
The likely situation is that within a couple of years all banks will charge in similar ways for the use of overdrafts - see Halifax now.0
