Mayling, Insertwittyname and CK- thanks for your responses, I really appreciate your advise and will take onboard what you have said:).

Here to help, we all are :)
Thanks guys for helping me focus! I feel much more optimistic today. I found five jobs on Linkedin that sound promising, will be applying for them today (means another day of not spending much time with the family, but I hope it will pay off eventually...). I hope I get at least one interview and if I do, I will nail it this time ;)!

As you've stated, you need to sell yourself.

If you've put in your CV that you've done something, state exactly how this can help benefit the company in some way, and how these skills can be transferred.

Always try to feel optimistic, it'll go a long way in how the tone of a CV or CL comes across.

I followed the advise and only focused on applying for a couple of jobs rather than 5 per week. I also focused a lot more on my interview preparation, thought of some snazzy examples and really sold my self.

Well, the result is that I have now been offered a job! :money:

And not just any job, but a job that pays well and is located very close to where I live, so bye bye long commutes.

I resigned today and will start my new job next month:).

Thank you for all your advise and support mayling and CK, I owe you both a drink

After 18 months I can finally move on with my life and get out of this horrible rut. Feels so good!

Nice one Myhouse75, well done for landing the role and making the change needed.

As someone who has recently switched from working away from home for 5 days a week to be home based, I hope you the time you have gotten back, I certainly am. :)

Any chance you could relocated to at least take the 3 hour commute burden off your shoulders? I've been looking for jobs for quite some time too, but there just seem to be none available these days. I wish I had some advice for you, but nothing could really help. Just know that you're not alone out there.
