    re: Manor House

The price you pay includes all the activities, small amounts to pay for the craft activities which depends on the item you make. e.g.£5 for three large pieces of pottery,£1.50 pair or earrings. They offer some good discounts on children sharing your room. You have to pay for lunch on the arrival and leaving days, normally £5/adult and also drinks at the bar/restaurant.
Moneysaving advice stay at the Travelodge down the road so you get there early and get a full day of activities. Take sports bottles and squash to fill up during the day.
When I look at the prices of Centre Parcs and compare it to The Manor I tend to go to the Manor as the price includes Full board and as many activities as you can fit in and physically cope with.(we struggle to keep up with 2 teenage sporty boys)

Are you saying that you can stay elsewhere and still pay to use the craft activities?

    Thanks

I think Alye means that you can stay at the Travelodge the night before your holiday at the Manor House begins, and then that gives you a full day (the day you book in) using the facilities, instead of using your first day to travel. That's the way I read it anyway.

I've just read back on what I've posted, and I don't think I've made my meaning clear. So, we're booked in from Sunday, but had planned to travel that day. From where I live, it is quite a distance, so we will only arrive mid to late afternoon. We can use the facilities for the whole day from when we arrive though. So, if we travel down the night before and stay in the Travelodge, we can spend our first day at the hotel doing crafts, etc, instead of wasting it traveling. Yes, we would spend something on the cost of the Travelodge, but we would, in effect, have an additional full day to enjoy the activities that the hotel has to offer.

Did you find you spent much money whilst at the manor house hotel? It looks really good. Are the craft activities expensive? thanks

I'm going back there in August, we went last June half term.

TBH, we really didn't spend too much more while there, the pottery is £5, for slip casting up to 3 things and making something on the wheel, but they really didn't count how much you were making so you could make more.

Enamelling was quite expensive, only £1-2 per item but you could easily end up making loads.

Glass engraving was £1-2 per item but you only had time to make two really in one session, but you can bring your own glassware to cut the cost, I think it's only 50p if you only use their stencils and machine.

The transfers on ceramics start around 50p for a cup, but again you can bring your own cups/plates/bowls etc if you want. I'm going to Ikea before we go.

I think I spent about an extra £30 for me ad DD, but we came home with a boot full of stuff we made and had a brilliant time.

I found it really relaxing, even though we were busy all the time there was no worries about where we were going to eat or having to arrange days out, it's all there, you just turn up and enjoy.

Oh, and you get a free bottle of wine with dinner on a Sunday and Thursday :D

    Can't wait til August!

Thanks Kingfisher, that's what I meant sorry if I confused anyone. We travel from the Midlands and so its worth us staying at the Travelodge the night before we check in otherwise we wouldn't arrive till the afternoon.

Butlins are inching upmarket to the bottom of the Centerparcs territory - it's slow but incrementally they're heading there by making the family-ness more about time with the kids, not away from them. May work out cheaper and certainly worth keeping an eye on for future years

We went to Potters Leisure resort last October. Hotel or bungalow accomadation, we chose hotel rooms and they were lovely. Can't fault the staff, entertainment and lots of activities. Great reviews on Trip advisor. Its full board (including a midnight dish) with all activities included in the price except 10 pin bowling and clay pigeon shooting which were reasonable. Can't recommend then highly enough for anyone with disabilities.

We did look into Manor House but the rooms looked very tired indeed on their website.
