Double Glazing Quote & Advice

Safestyle have quoted me "around £2,000" for 4 standard windows and a PVC front door, plus a small pane of glass near the front door. The windows are A grade, and look decent quality from the samples.
The window sizes are 175x100 (two), 100x90 (one) and 120 x100 (one). Standard, white plastic front door. This includes fitting and removal etc.
Firstly, does this sound a reasonable quote?
Secondly, are Safestyle any good?
Thirdly, they made no mention of sills etc, so I presume they wouldn't come as part of the price. Is it possible to continue using the existing ones or do they have to be replaced at the same time as replacing the windows? How much should they cost?
Any generic advice would be useful as I've no experience of doing this at all, and hate the process.

We used Safestyle and paid just over twice as much for just over twice as much work, so the quote looks good to me.
They're good for the price. Obviously the quality of product and workmanship isn't up there with say Everest, but then you're not paying Everest prices. We had to get them back to sort a few things, but nothing major. Sills won't be included, at least ours weren't. You're able to keep the old sills, depending on how well attached the existing windows are and how well they hold up to the installation. We had a few sills slightly damaged that needed patching up afterwards, but the house is 25+yrs old, and the old frames were single glazed wooden frames.
so you can either keep the existing sills and fingers crossed the old frames come out ok, or get them to quote for new ones. We had a hard wood door plinth added to our quote for £50, so I'd imagine each sill to be roughly the same.0 -
I would not entertain Safestyle. I would be looking for a local independent installer whose name was given to me on recommendation. I would then be checking out previous customers to ensure the workmanship was satisfactory.
My instinct is the price could be lower.
I suggest you establish who makes the profiles, glass and windows that Safestyle propose to fit. Then determine if they are any good. That is, do they tick all the boxes to be suitable for installation in new homes. Many windows do not!0 -

Thanks. I'd prefer to go down the independent route but know no one that has had DG fitted that way.0 -
We are looking at new DG windows, from the research I have done, and a few people I have spoken to regarding Safestyle I wouldnt recommend them.
I can PM you more details if you need them.0 -

We have just signed purchase contract with Safestyle, a bit worried after some reviews, so been reading up a bit. When I saw this about the sills I panicked and called them to cancel as we were already at the top of our price range. They straight away said that they would include the sills to stop me cancelling so worth a try for anyone else in this situation.
Just hope the rest of it goes OK as my OH was really unsure about the whole 'offer on the day' thing and the ridiculous sales spiel. Got the surveyor coming round today, bit begrudging about paying an extra £60 for them to measure, especially as he 'forgot' to mention this until we had agreed the final price. By that point I just wanted it sorted though after a long day in work, guess that works to their advantage. We'll see anyway...0 -
