Insurer and repairer don't talk to each other!!

Just when I thought it was all sorted. Car is being repaired, I have a car while this is being done and the insurer writes to confirm third party has contacted them saying it was all their fault and will pay for all danage, letter confirms that my excess is waived and my no claims intact. Straight forward I thought!! How stupid can you be. For some unknown reason the car is taking a month to repair, its only a bumper wing and light. Rang the repair company and they said they didn't know anything about not paying the excess!!! Filled them in on the details stating I had a letter to tell me/them this. They said will have to confirm direct with insurer and will ring me to confirm. Now I'm waiting. I know I won't be paying as I have the letter stating this!! Why can't they just talk to each other.
