As for the morality of using Toscos own coupons on the right items but in the wrong quantities, well this is an IT failure and it will soon be fixed.
I know it does not make it alright but of all the Tosco Mocs issued especially in mailings, at least half won't scan even if you buy the right items in the right ammount in the right quantities - probably why a lot are never used because people get fed up of having their MOCs handed back to them, most people won't risk the embarrassment.
I was buying toms and pasta yesterday and I used the Tosco issued magazine MOCs and even though quite clearly I had bought the right items only some of my MOCs were accepted, the rest came back as item not purchased so I had to take the pasta off my bill - not convinced but I think it was the pasta that was not accepted. I am still wondering if I should email Tosco HQ
Again an IT problem“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I used to work from an office that had a 1st floor window that overlooked a large area of "maintained wilderness" in the middle of a chemical complex. A few of us kept a daily record of comings and goings wrt wildlife and it was amazing how many species visited the site. With the joy of being able to observe so many creatures in a natural habitat came the reality of real life mother nature survival:(
I remember watching Magpies building their elaborate dome shaped nests and hatching chicks only to have then torn apart by Crows and Rooks who carried off the young:(fairclaire wrote: »I had a sad mother nature moment on Monday. Good afternoon:)
Every year we have housesparrows nesting and it's lovely to watch when they fledge. Last year we were sitting in the garden with friends, just after the sparrows fledged, a sparrowhawk flew down and grabbed one of the babies. I was really upset, on the point of tears but our friends said 'it's just mother nature'. It's true I know but still upsetting.
FC you have made me ponder now as a jackdaw has taken to visiting us daily for the past week and I know the babies are on the point of fledging. I couldn't bear to see them being snatched away again:(0 -

T do not issue mocs without calculation and consideration. They issue "open" and "closed" mocs and codes. Closed codes mean that they will only work on a targeted basis, for the audience they were aimed at. Open codes will work in a variety of situations. Sometimes they issue open codes into a small targeted area (often geographic) and then monitor how they proliferate and reach saturation. When we fall on a code that unexpectedly works for everyone when we think it shouldn't, then there is a very good chance that marketing stats are being harvested.
I do think that 10 Ways will skew their data because of the sheer volume and pace of uptake
In addition, the fruit and veg mocs and promotions are because, like many others, T gave a pledge to the Government under the Responsibility Deal and need to be seen to be honouring it and to demonstrate that their partnership on the deal is bearing fruit (:p). If they can say that eg 500,000 or however many mocs for healthy eating products have been redeemed then they will be applauded. Mocs are probably the cheapest way for T to be seen to be honouring their pledge.

Yes, I have only noticed Jackdaws around the last couple of weeks and didnt make a connection either until Monday.
On another birdy note....I had been feeding my cats outside on the wall because the dog keeps stealing their food. Until I spotted magpies dive bombing the cats to steal the cat food :eek: so Ive had to resort to shutting the cats and cat food in the shed at feeding time!0 -
