Yes if she's on a BR (basic rate) tax code all her income which this code is applied to will be taxed at basic rate (20%).

Her P45 showing when she finished her other job, together with her current payslips/P60 should be sufficient for the HMRC to see what's happened. Sounds like the refund will come at the right time, call it a 'maternity savings fund' if you will :T

She is still working so if she's still on the BR tax code she will most likely have overpaid tax this year aswell (assuming her earnings are at the same level as the last tax year). This should be rectified within her current earnings - when it is all sorted out her employer will receive a notification from HMRC informing them of her new tax code (i.e. 945L) and she would then ordinarily receive a tax rebate in her pay for that period (be it weekly or monthly).

Assuming she's earning say £135 per week, she will have paid around £27 per week tax in this years tax year - lets say its sorted out by mid June she should expect another couple of hundred quid back in her payslip.

Good luck and all the best to your DD :)

Yes the personal allowance for 2012/2013 was £8,105 (tax code 810L), for 2013/2014 it's £9,440 (tax code 945L)
DH started a new job a couple of months ago, and just got a tax code of 500T.
His tax code last year was 810L.
Not sure if the new one is right, may have to check.

Can anyone do the maths on the walkers ridge please are they a better buy than the seabrooks.
    Is it
    Pay £3 for 2 packs V £1.98 at T minus the £10% ( - 20p)
    Total of £1.78 less
Minus the 98p extra that it thinks you paid = 80p for 2 packs. Probably wrong though lol x

Just wondered, is there a matrix/spreadsheet available to make the workings out easier for people here?

Just catching up with a skim read from when I last posted. Why not try 2 creamed rice and 1 custard, low fat of course, as they are 3 for £2 in A's. It should compare, I nearly did this but I don't think the custard would get used in this house, so put it back for another rice...... Sorry. :o
